Let Gods love share in our lives as we care and share and learn together

Welcome

"Pupils are enthusiastic about school" (Ofsted 2007)

WELCOME

Thank you for taking the time to browse our school’s website. My name is Nick Collins and I am the headteacher of St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School. I am delighted to share the contents of our site with you and hope you find the time to explore it. If you find the site useful or have any suggestions to make then please e-mail our office manager, Lynda Bowker on:

admin@xavier.doncaster.sch.uk

Our school is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment to each and every child they come into contact with. With this in mind, the governors remind all visitors to this site that every member of staff and regular volunteer undertakes an enhanced criminal record check.

Our school was opened in 1932 as a small secondary school and in 1959 it became a primary school. We are privileged to serve as part of two parishes: Sacred Heart, Balby and St Peter In Chains, Town. We share a parish priest with St Mary’s, Edlington; his name is Fr Pat O’Connor and at St Peter’s we have Fr Gus O’Reilly.

Since 1932 several building extensions have been added and the school roll has fluctuated considerably. The present roll stands at 182 (including nursery children). We have a foundation stage unit and mixed year group classes throughout school.

We currently have 39 members of staff: A headteacher, 5 full-time teachers, 2 part-time teacher, 2 HLTA (higher level teaching assistants), an office manager, a finance administrator, a welfare officer, an early years specialist Learning Support Assistant, a full-time special needs LSA, 4 part-time special needs LSA, a play support assistant, 5 part-time Learning and Play Support Assistants, an ICT technician, 4 peripatetic instrumental music teachers, a site manager, 2 cleaners, a senior kitchen assistant and a general kitchen assistant.

Our school is well established in the community and has a reputation for good quality, Catholic education and high standards. We are a popular school and enjoy a great deal of parental interest and support. This is borne out by the day-to-day co-operation of parents with school routines, good levels of communication through children’s daily planners, popularity of school events and very high attendances at parent/teacher consultations.
